God Was With David

David saw that he lived in a beautiful home, but that the Ark of the Covenant just lived in a tent, and so he wanted to build a permanent structure for the Ark. However, the Lord explained that He had blessed David and never questioned why Israel did not build a permanent structure.
The Lord said further, “And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name…Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more…” (2 Samuel 7:9–11a).
A temple would be important later, but everything has to be done on the Lord’s schedule, for all things are of Him. Therefore, He blessed Israel and David, and allowed them to do wonderful things, but it was not time for the temple.
You may have good things in your heart that you want to do for the Lord, but that time may not be yet.
