The Magnitude of the Enemy

Look at the size of the Philistine army that gathered against Israel, “Then the Philistines gathered together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude…” (1 Samuel 13:5).
Wow! How did the Israelites respond to that threat? They were distressed and, “hid in caves, in thickets, in rocks, in holes, and in pits.” Some of them just left the area completely, going to the other side of the Jordan River. King Saul stayed, but those who followed him trembled (1 Samuel 13:6-7).
