An Angel Sat Under a Tree

Angels are heavenly beings, so the image of one sitting under a tree almost seems comical, “Now the Angel of the LORD came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites” (Judges 6:11).
It may have seemed comical, so out of place for the Angel of the Lord, but He went to Gideon for something very serious, because heaven watches the affairs of earth with great interest.
We do well to view earth as the Lord does, seeing things from His perspective.
