Moses, The Middle Man

Moses reminded Israel, “I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the LORD; for you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up the mountain” (Deuteronomy 5:5).
God spoke to the people from the midst of the fire, but that frightened them, and so they wanted Moses to speak with God and relay the message, and that plan was acceptable to God and Moses did as both God and the people wanted.
Moses did not fear the sight of God from the midst of fire. What a sight that must have been, and Moses spoke with God as though they were simple friends.
Do you know this God of whom we speak?
