Jesus Angered and Grieved

Jesus asked His critics whether it was right to do good or to do evil on the Sabbath, but they would not answer Him. Then Mark wrote, “And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other” (Mark 3:5).
Jesus looked at His enemies with anger, because their hard hearts grieved Him. There is a time for anger and a time for being passive, and wise is he who knows when to be each.
