God Gives More Than We Ask

Jesus spoke a parable of a man who owed a king more than the man could pay. The king ordered that the man, his wife, his children, and all that he had be sold and that the proceeds be used to pay off the debt (Matthew 18:25).
The man fell down before the king, and begged, “Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all” (Matthew 18:26).
He did not ask to be released of the debt, having full intention of paying it, but only asked for enough time to do so. Hearing that and seeing the man humble himself, look what the king did, “Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt” (Matthew 18:27).
Let us approach our God with the full intention of doing what He commands, asking Him to be patient for us as we seek to separate ourselves from our sin and to embrace His righteousness. Then let us wait and see what He does.
