Prophets and Foxes

There arose false prophets among the people during the days of Ezekiel, and of them, the Lord said, “O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts” (Ezekiel 13:4).
They operated with deceptive stealth, fooling the people into believing that they spoke for the Lord, but they lied. It was not just that they made genuine mistakes in understanding Scriptures, but they intentionally led the people astray for selfish gain.
When you hear someone speak, but you know that what they say is not true, judge whether they have simply misunderstood Scripture or whether they have ulterior motives. Be patient with the first, but hardened against the latter.
