Remembering Good Things During Days of Affliction

Jeremiah made a great lamentation over Jerusalem when Babylon wiped out the city. The prophet wept,
In the days of her affliction and roaming,
Jerusalem remembers all her pleasant things
That she had in the days of old.
When her people fell into the hand of the enemy,
With no one to help her,
The adversaries saw her
And mocked at her downfall.
(Lamentations 1:7)
When things went bad, Jerusalem remembered the good old days, but the city failed to understand why they had it bad and why they had it good. God blessed them when they were faithful to Him, and cursed them when they turned to other gods.
