How to Insure that People Mock You

Now that is a lovely title for a devotional, is it not? Yet, Jeremiah the prophet experienced mocking daily, although we remember him as a great prophet of God, but the prophet’s generation did not see him that way,
O LORD, You induced me, and I was persuaded;
You are stronger than I, and have prevailed.
I am in derision daily;
Everyone mocks me.
For when I spoke, I cried out;
I shouted, “Violence and plunder!”
Because the word of the LORD was made to me
A reproach and a derision daily.
(Jeremiah 20:7-8)
His generation hated him for what he spoke, but we love him for what he wrote down. Do you want to be like his generation or do you want to be like him? If you want to be like him, then expect people to be contrary to you, but rejoice in that you and God have perfect harmony.
