Pause and Wonder at Disobedience

Jerusalem reached the point where they just would not obey the Lord and they paid the price for it. Isaiah the prophet told the city,
Pause and wonder!
Blind yourselves and be blind!
They are drunk, but not with wine;
They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.
For the LORD has poured out on you
The spirit of deep sleep,
And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.
(Isaiah 29:9-10)
The Lord would quit speaking to them by the prophets and let Jerusalem experience the overwhelming of His punishment, making them as though they were blind, drunk, or in deep sleep, staggering badly because of what Babylon would do to the city.
The Lord means business with the inhabitants of the world, let us mean business with Him and obey Him.
