A Glorious City Becomes a Desolation

Isaiah 23 began a denunciation of the city of Tyre, a glorious city on the coast of the northern part of Israel, although Tyre used its glory for sinful things. Therefore, the Lord revealed what He would do to Tyre, including this,
The new wine fails, the vine languishes,
All the merry-hearted sigh…
The city of confusion is broken down…
All joy is darkened…
In the city desolation is left…
(Isaiah 24:7-13)
When cities have glory, they cannot imagine such suffering that they become desolate, but it has happened thousands of times since civilization began, and it will continue until the end.
However, some cities turn to the Lord when they see their sin. Christians should let their lives be filled with good works, for who knows how much they might influence a city for righteousness that it might be saved?
