Back Up Promises

Paul told the Macedonian Churches that the church in Achaia had been ready for a year to make a contribution to their brethren in Jerusalem. However, to make sure that Paul’s boasting of Achaia did not become empty, he took them up on their promise by sending someone to pick up the collection, “Yet I have sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this respect, that, as I said, you may be ready; lest if some Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you!) should be ashamed of this confident boasting” (2 Corinthians 9:3-4).
When people make promises, we should make sure that they stay true to those promises, and the same goes for us when we commit ourselves to a work. Back up what you promise and see to it that others do the same.
