Do Not Receive Gifts from Misers

To be hospitable or giving seems like the right thing to do, leading even misers to do it, but in their hearts they truly do not want to host you or give to you. Therefore, Solomon teaches,
Do not eat the bread of a miser,
Nor desire his delicacies;
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.
The morsel you have eaten, you will vomit up,
And waste your pleasant words.
(Proverbs 23:6-8)
Normally receiving gifts is a good way to build relationships, but not with misers. Therefore, use discretion and discreetly refuse the gift.
