God's Wrath on the Nations

Asaph wrote after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians and he lamented that destruction in Psalm 79. He asked God to pour out His wrath on those who hurt Judah,
Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not know You,
And on the kingdoms that do not call on Your name.
For they have devoured Jacob,
And laid waste his dwelling place.
(Psalms 79:6-7)
Notice that Asaph did not want to carry out personal vengeance, nor did he want God’s people to do it, but Asaph placed the matter in the hands of God.
Let us likewise remember that Jesus is our Lord and we should place such matters in His hands, for He is the Lord and knows what to do.
