Plotting a Vain Thing

The psalmist asked why the nations raged and made a vain plot? (Psalm 2:1). What had the nations enraged that they would plot something, although they could not be successful in their conspiracy? The psalmist said,
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
(Psalm 2:2)
Then the poet showed that they were hoping to destroy the bonds that the Lord and His Anointed had on them (Psalm 2:3).
Kings and rulers do not have enough power and authority to cast off the Lord’s bonds and cords. They tried it with Christ, as this psalm prophesied, but the Roman and Jewish leaders are gone and Jesus reigns as King.
Never in any way fight against the Lord of lords, for He will always win and you will always lose.
