Unapproved Men

Some left the church in Jerusalem and went to other places preaching that Gentile converts needed to be circumcised and to keep the Law of Moses. However, the church in Jerusalem, including the apostles and elders, sent a letter to the places where those people had gone and the letter said, “Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law’–to whom we gave no such commandment–” (Acts 15:24).
That problem has not ceased. People go out from probably every congregation and say and do things that the church, and more importantly that the Spirit, does not endorse.
Wherein we can, we ought to set the record straight. Whether we can set the record straight or not, we should follow good works relentlessly and show other congregations, as well as the world, what we are about.
