Do Not Walk After Your Eyes

If Job had followed his way instead of God’s way, Job was willing to suffer the consequences, saying,
“If my step has turned from the way,
Or my heart walked after my eyes,
Or if any spot adheres to my hands,
Then let me sow, and another eat;
Yes, let my harvest be rooted out.”
(Job 31:7-8)
He knew that we should not walk after the sight of our eyes, for we do not see the whole picture. We cannot know all that happens or will happen in this world, and there is the world of the spirit where God is, who works all things after His will.
Therefore, we should pray that the will of God be done in our lives, and that we not be tempted to walk by the sight of our eyes.
