A Precious Passage

The treasurer of Ethiopia headed back home after worshiping in Jerusalem. As he rode in his chariot, he read the prophet Isaiah. We do not know all that he read, but he read at least Isaiah 53:7, 8. However, he did not understand whether Isaiah spoke of himself or someone else. Luke revealed the passage that the Ethiopian treasurer read,
The place in the Scripture which he read was this:
“He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;
And as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
In His humiliation His justice was taken away,
And who will declare His generation?
For His life is taken from the earth.”
(Acts 8:32-33).
Philip then used that passage to preach Jesus to the Ethiopian treasurer. Would you have known that Isaiah prophesied of Christ, if you had not read the New Testament?
