Resisting the Holy Spirit

As Stephen reminded the Jewish Council of Israelite history, he could tell that either he bored them, that they did not see how those things applied to them, or that they could see how they simply followed Israelite history in rejecting those whom God sent to them. Suddenly, Stephen said, “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you” (Acts 7:51).
Stephen revealed what leads to resisting the Holy Spirit: a stiff neck and heart, and ears that are uncircumcised. Our spiritual condition determines how we shall respond to the word of God.
