Death Could Not Stop the Son of God

As Peter preached his sermon, recorded in Acts 2, and he told the people that they had crucified and put to death a Man whom God had approved, yet, the preacher explained, “whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it” (Acts 2:24).
Jesus is the Son of God and death could not hold Him. This is why He had promised, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
Jesus would build His church and the gates of Hades would not prevent Jesus from doing that. When He died, His soul went through the gates of Hades (not hell), and three days later, He went back out through the gates and was resurrected to build His church.
The Jews tried to stop Jesus by killing Him, but it did not work. Jesus is the Son of God, Lord of heaven and earth.
