"Behold the Man!"

Roman soldiers beat up Jesus and scourged Him, placed a crown of thorns on His head, and put a purple robe on Him. Pilate then announced to the Jews that He would bring out Jesus to show them how Pilate and his soldiers had humiliated Jesus, “Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, ‘Behold the Man!'” (John 19:5).
The Jews could look at the Man whom they hated. They could see the results of the beatings and scourging, and the irony of Him wearing a crown and a royal-looking robe.
However, it had no affect upon the Jewish leaders, but they demanded the death of Jesus. Pilate could do nothing to appease them, they wanted the blood of Jesus.
Amazingly, the all-powerful Son of God submitted to such treatment! Think on that the rest of the day and think on why He did it.
