The Jews Continued in Babylonian Captivity

As Ezra, the writer of First and Second Chronicles, continued to list the genealogy of Judah, he wrote, “And the sons of Jeconiah were Assir, Shealtiel his son…” (1 Chronicles 3:17-24).
The sons of Jeconiah were born in Babylonian captivity according to Matthew, “Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon. And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel” (Matthew 1:11-12).
Here is the point. The kingdom of Judah angered the Lord greatly, causing Him to send them to Babylon. However, He did not wipe them out, but allowed them to prosper in their host nation.
The Lord had compassion on Judah, which means that He had compassion on the world, for Judah would give the world the Christ! Praise the Lord for His endless mercy.
