The Dead Survive the Grave

The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection, because they believed that once you die, you cease to exist, which several denominations today also believe. Jesus refuted the Sadducees, saying, “But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him” (Luke 20:37-38).
Jesus made His argument on the fact that at the time of Moses, God still was the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, not that He had been or was in the past only, but at the time of Moses God still was their God, because they still lived.
All the dead survive the grave and currently reside either in a place of torment or a place of paradise, depending upon the lives they lived and whether they lived in Christ.
