Do What You Can

Amalekites took captive the wives and children of David and his men. As David and his men pursued the Amalekites, this happened, “So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the Brook Besor, where those stayed who were left behind. But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor” (1 Samuel 30:9-10).
Two hundred of David’s men could not go on, so they stayed behind and guarded the supplies. They did what they could and in this instance it was not enough. However, the Lord provided David and his four hundred to finish the job.
Do what you can on a good work and if you cannot complete it, the Lord will make sure that someone else finishes it, if it be His will.
