The Fearless Jesus

Jesus knew that the Pharisees watched Him closely to see if He would do anything wrong. While in the home of a Pharisee on the Sabbath, a man with dropsy or edema appeared before Jesus. Then He questioned the Pharisees, and lawyers present, whether it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath, “But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go” (Luke 14:4).
That was sheer boldness! Jesus did not care what the Pharisees would think or do, even if it meant dying for what He did. As you know the Pharisees eventually killed Him for doing such things.
Jesus did not heal the man just to be contrary, but He did it because it was the right thing to do.
Why do you do things? Do you only seek to rattle people’s cages? Or do you do the right thing, even if it offends others?
