Maintain the Momentum

A horrible problem arose in Israel, centered in the tribe of Benjamin. Israel knew that they had to do something, so, “the leaders of all the people, all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand foot soldiers who drew the sword” (Judges 20:2).
Israel did something impressive in coming together in that manner. They wanted to do the right thing, although they suffered the loss of thousands of men for doing it. Two days in a row they suffered in battle against Benjamin, but Israel would not give up, though they wept greatly. On the third day, they lost more men, but not nearly the amount of the first two days, and finally they defeated Benjamin.
Israel maintained their momentum in righteousness in the face of adversity. Let us do the same.
