Half-Truth Religion

An Ephraimite hired a Levite to be his priest. Then as the tribe of Dan passed through the area seeking to acquire their land, they recognized the Levite. After questioning him, they said to him, “‘Please inquire of God, that we may know whether the journey on which we go will be prosperous.’ And the priest said to them, ‘Go in peace. The presence of the LORD be with you on your way'” (Judges 18:5-6).
Interestingly, the men from Dan did not question why the Levite failed to function according to the Law of Moses! It was good that they wanted to inquire of God because we are ignorant and shortsighted, but God knows all and is willing to give wisdom. Then again, they asked the wrong person to inquire of God for them, because the Levite did not follow the Law.
When wanting to know God’s will on a matter, we should seek God, search His word, and ask people who are right with Him.
