Israel Forgot the Lord

How much did the Lord do for Israel? Did He ever forget them? Yet, the Book of Judges says, “So the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD. They forgot the LORD their God, and served the Baals and Asherahs” (Judges 3:7).
What happened? Did they fail to teach their children? Did the children forsake the religion of their parents when grown up? Did their parents religion seem outmoded, outdated, and irrelevant?
Doing evil and forgetting the Lord have a connection in this passage. Did they desire to commit evil so they forgot the Lord? Or did they forget the Lord so they could do evil? Or did they forget the Lord and then evil later developed in the void they created in their minds and hearts?
Whatever happened, and it does not always happen in the same order, they forsook the Lord and accepted the false religions of the Baals and the Asherahs.
Are we teaching our children properly?
