Anointing the Feet of Jesus

Do you think you ever would have anointed the feet of Jesus? I want to say that I would, but I know that I am not that kind of person, at least in my present way of thinking. Something significant would have to happen to move me to do that. However, Luke tells us that a certain woman did, “And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil” (Luke 7:37-38).
No doubt lingered in this woman’s mind about the nature of Jesus and her own condition. Knowing of His generosity in matters of forgiveness, she went to Him and performed this humble task, something that would be embarrassing to many people, both to someone doing it and others watching it.
What would move you to do something like that? Would you be embarrassed to have been there and seen this? If so, ask yourself why.
