Let Others Speak of Your Worthiness

A Roman centurion loved his servant, but the servant had a terminal illness. Therefore, when the centurion heard of Jesus, the Roman sent for the Lord, pleading with Jesus to come and heal the servant, sending elders of the Jews to make the plea. “And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, ‘for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue'” (Luke 7:3-5).
If the centurion had spoken of his own worthiness, it would have been a turnoff. As Solomon said, “Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips” (Proverbs 27:2).
Since the centurion let others plead for him, this touched Jesus and He went to heal the servant.
Do not praise yourself to others. If you have truly done wonderful things, those works cannot be hidden, but those works will find someone to speak for you and you shall receive blessings in life, even if you did not seek those blessings.
