Joshua knew the value of investigating a battle ahead of time, “Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, ‘Go up and spy out the country.’ So the men went up and spied out Ai” (Joshua 7:2).
Joshua needed to know how many men to send, what their defenses were like, and so on. He needed to know what lay before him and Israel. He showed wisdom in preparation.
When you do a good work in the church, be sure to investigate first and see what needs to be done and how to go about doing it, otherwise, you may fail and blame others for it.
