The Covenant of the Showbread

The Lord wanted bread in His tabernacle, saying, “Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant” (Leviticus 24:8).
Notice these things about the showbread:
1. Set out every Sabbath
2. Set in order
3. Set before the Lord
4. Set before the Lord continually
5. Taken from the children of Israel
6. Done by an everlasting covenant
Like the other items of the tabernacle and its services, Israel provided the material of the showbread. The Lord provided exceedingly rich blessings and He wanted them to provide things and to do so in a specified order.
God was pleased, Israel was pleased, and as long as they did these things, they lived in harmony together.
