The Need For Holiness

The Lord revealed to Moses several things that made the high priests unclean and thus prohibited them from eating the holy things (Leviticus 22:4-9). If the high priest became unclean, he could not eat at the specified time, but later in the evening he would be clean again and then could eat, for after all the Lord said, “it is his food” (v. 7).
The Lord further emphasized in verses 8 and 9 His identity, “I am the LORD,” (v. 8), and, “I the LORD sanctify them” (v. 9).
In everything the priests did, they had to remember the Lord. I believe Christians also must keep the Lord in mind at all times, as Paul wrote, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31), and he said again, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17).
