What-If Faith

by Barry Newton
What if the biblical authors intended to communicate more than has commonly been understood today, when they wrote about faith?
What if a biblical understanding would remove a 500-year-old chasm between Roman Catholics and Protestants?
What if the fundamental principle of faith for the New Testament writers revolved around trust and reliance?
What if such faith always involved a sincere belief?
What if for them sometimes such a faith also demanded an appropriate action of trust as well?
What if salvation by faith in Jesus originally meant that a person is saved by trusting in Jesus?
What if trusting in Jesus entailed not only believing the claims of the gospel, but also relying upon Jesus through being immersed in water?
What if people today would value responding to the original message, instead of hanging onto the perceived security of their own religious tradition?
Imagine what if.
