The Birth Place of the Messiah

When the wise men approached Herod about the birth of the King of the Jews, he inquired of the chief priests and scribes as to where this King was to be born. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah…'” (Matthew 2:5-6).
The Jewish leaders read Micah 5:2 and understood that it referred to the birth of the messianic king of the Jews, although the birth is not mentioned directly in the passage.
Interestingly, Herod learned that the Scriptures of the Jews prophesied of the Messiah, and it was happening before his very eyes, but that did not change the man’s heart, making him realize that this whole affair was something greater than himself. No, he sought to destroy the little boy.
Friends, I do not advise you to fight against the Scriptures, for even as the Scriptures outlasted Herod, they will outlast you and me.
