The Identity of the Two Witnesses

Revelation 11:3 said that God would have two witnesses preaching. Then John wrote, “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth” (Revelation 11:4). In Zechariah 4:2-6, 11-14, the two anointed ones were the ruler and the high priest. The oil was the Spirit feeding them. They spoke the word of God. This is almost identical to Revelation 11.
Lampstands show light, and olive trees provide oil for the light. Revelation 1:20 showed us lampstands representing the church. Philippians 2:16 says that the church holds fast the word of life. First Timothy 3:15 makes a statement about the church and the word of God that is consistent with what we see in Revelation 11, “…the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”
Two lampstands takes us back to Revelation 2 and 3 and the two faithful churches, showing us the faithful church down through the ages. However, the church does not preach what it wants, but receives the message from God and the word is made effective by the Spirit of God.
God has on the earth both His Scriptures and His church to reveal His will. If you read the Scriptures daily and are a member of the church, the devil and the world hate you, but the Lord loves you and you shall do His will.
