The Watchman Became a Snare

What is the purpose of the watchman? Is it not to warn of danger? Yet, corruption ran so deep in ancient Ephraim that the watchman became the source of danger,
The watchman of Ephraim is with my God;
But the prophet is a fowler’s snare in all his ways–
Enmity in the house of his God.
They are deeply corrupted,
As in the days of Gibeah.
He will remember their iniquity;
He will punish their sins.
(Hosea 9:8-9)
The watchman of Ephraim had been with God, but became a snare, even bringing enmity into the house of God. Because of the deep corruption, God would remember Ephraim’s sins and punish her.
It is important to remember for what purpose God created us and not veer from it.
