The Dangers of Wealth and Wisdom

We expect to hear of the dangers of wealth. What about the dangers of wisdom? What about the dangers of having both? What could possibly be wrong with having wisdom? Listen to what the Lord said to one man. The Lord had Ezekiel say to the prince of Tyre, “Because your heart is lifted up, and you say, “I am a god…” Yet you are a man, and not a god…(Behold, you are wiser than Daniel…With your wisdom and your understanding you have gained riches for yourself…And your heart is lifted up because of your riches…)” (Ezekiel 28:1-5).
The leader of Tyre had grown wise and with his wisdom he acquired wealth. So far, no problem. Then the abundance of his wisdom and wealth led him to believe he was a god. Whoa! Major problem!
He had to learn that he was merely like the rest of us, just human.
Have you grown in wisdom through your years, experience, and with all that you have learned? Wonderful! However, stay humble, remembering who is the Creator and who is the creature.
