Israel and the Glory of All Lands

The Lord did many things for ancient Israel, yet, they rebelled against Him constantly. When they rebelled, He still blessed them, doing it for His own name’s sake, that is, for the reputation of His name, because Israel was among the Gentiles, the nations that worshiped idols and those nations had to see Him in a certain way.
He had Ezekiel speak to certain elders of Israel, “Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “On the day when I chose Israel and raised My hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I raised My hand in an oath to them, saying, ‘I am the LORD your God.’ On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands. Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, throw away the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’ But they rebelled against Me and would not obey Me…Then I said, ‘I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them…’ But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles among whom they were…”‘” (Ezekiel 20:5-9).
Israel could go to the glory of all lands and stay there. However, even as they rebelled in the wilderness, so they rebelled in the land flowing with milk and honey. Therefore, He had to release His fury upon them, but even so He did it in mercy, not wiping out Israel. He always preserved part of the nation, for Israel was to bring the Son of God into the world.
Praise God for His generous mercy upon Israel and upon the world that everything has lasted to this moment that He might have mercy upon all.
