Striving Against Sin

The people who received the Book of Hebrews initially had become discouraged with Christianity and wanted to turn to Judaism. However, the writer said, “You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin” (Hebrews 12:4).
Yes, the readers received persecution, but it had not gone to the point of blood. They thought they had it hard, but it could get worse. Yet, others had shed their blood in the history of God’s religion, going back to Abel. Surely the readers could still endure.
What about us? How far have you gone in your struggle against sin? Yet, have you become discouraged? Hang on with all your might in the grace of God through Jesus Christ who shed His blood for us!
