Do Not Fear

Mighty nations had surrounded Israel and one of the mightiest grew more powerful during the days of Isaiah, the Empire of Babylon. Israel feared Babylon. However, the Lord encouraged Israel not to fear (Isaiah 43:1, 2). He reassured Israel, saying,
For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.
(Isaiah 43:3-4)
The Lord showed Israel their history, reminding them of what He had done to previous mighty kingdoms who sought to oppress His people. You no doubt recognized the name of Egypt.
Babylon would become just as Egypt, truly Babylon had a fate worse than Egypt. The Lord reminded Israel that He loved them and honored them.
The church in the western world seems to be losing ground. The powers of secularism and Islam appear to be overrunning us, but remember what the Lord told Israel, for He thinks the same things toward us.
Nations and institutions that have persecuted the church have come and gone, but the church survives and thrives.
