Oppressing the Poor

What good is a fierce rain if the land cannot use the water, hence produce no food? Likewise, Solomon said,
A poor man who oppresses the poor
Is like a driving rain which leaves no food.
(Proverbs 28:3)
Those of you using the NIV have, “A ruler who oppresses the poor.”
Whoever oppresses the poor hurts himself, because the poor are often the workers on farms. Later the oppressor complains about the way things are in his community.
That reminds of those who paint graffiti on walls. They ruin their own neighborhoods, but later complain that they cannot find work, because business owners do not want to live and work in a neighborhood of graffiti.
Do not ever oppress anyone, because you do no one any good. Eventually you only hurt yourself.
