Here and There

flyingplane2.jpegTomorrow night I’ll catch a plane to the U.S., and for nearly two months I’ll be on the road until my return home to Brazil in mid-November. Intermittent Internet access will prevent my usual activity, but I’ll make the best effort to keep my articles coming on Mondays.
Forthright will continue its normal course with managing editor Richard Mansel’s deft guidance. Richard has really kept the magazine progressing smoothly from his perch in Ludowici, Ga. We’re grateful to the Lord for his efforts.
Michael Riley of El Paso, Texas, has joined United Prayer as an editor, so be sure to catch our Twitter postings (called tweets), which include both short prayers and prayer requests. Check it out and follow here.
Because of his evolving responsibilities in Hattiesburg, Miss., Mike Benson will no longer be writing for Forthright regularly, so we’ll miss his contributions, but we nurture hopes of an occasional piece from him.
Don’t forget Forthright’s sister publication,, when it comes to newsworthy items of interest in your congregation. Check the site for tips on how to write up a story or report it to the editors.
From my personal site: An American Protestant pastor announced recently that he prays for the U.S. president’s death and encouraged his congregation to follow his lead. I don’t think we read the same Bible. A godly woman mouthed a far different prayer: “The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up” (1 Samuel 2:6 ESV). The New Testament teaches Christians to pray for those who govern.
It’s always a pleasure to meet Forthright readers. If you live somewhere near the editor’s path as he traverses Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, why not catch him as he whizzes past? He’s keeping his itinerary updated at this link.
