Paul Listed Four Basic Elements of the Gospel

Most people believe that Paul listed three foundational points of the gospel, but listen to him carefully and you will hear four things listed, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time” (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
Most people stop reading after Paul mentioned the resurrection of Christ, but Paul did not stop there. Rather he went on to list the witnesses to the resurrection. After he said, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received…” he introduced each of the four items with “that.” Therefore, Paul’s four fundamentals of the gospel are:
That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
That He was buried,
That He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and
That He was seen by Cephas and all the others
Do you believe these four things happened? If you do, have you taken advantage of the gospel, that is, the good news of Jesus Christ? Do you know what to do about it?
