Just Because Everyone Speaks Against It, Does Not Mean It Is Evil

When many people speak against something, that does not mean the thing is evil. Listen to the Jews in Rome desire to hear Paul speak of the church, “But we desire to hear from you what you think; for concerning this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere” (Acts 28:22).
It is true that the church was called a sect by her enemies, but that did not make it a sect of Judaism. It is true that the church was spoken against everywhere, but that did not make the church evil.
The problem is when we hear many people speaking against something, we are tempted to believe that there must be a legitimate reason for the complaints. That may not be the case. It was not the case with the church, and it may not be the case with the evil reports you hear about people and things. Everything and everyone has to be judged based on his own merits or lack of them, not the large numbers of people speaking against him.
