Craving Power

As David neared death, one of his sons sought the kingdom, “Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, ‘I will be king’; and he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him” (1 Kings 1:5).
Adonijah should have known that would not work. It did not work for his brother Absalom. The craving for power ruined Saul. Yet, the craving for power blinds those who have it, for they become intoxicated with its potential, leading them to turn against even family if need be, as Adonijah did.
Do you crave something? Beware of what it might do to you.
