What Awaits the Devout?

The parents of Jesus took Him to Jerusalem after the days of His mother’s purification ended to present Him to the Lord, since Jesus was the firstborn. They also offered a sacrifice. They just went to Jerusalem to do what the Law of Moses commanded.
Yet, when they arrived in the city, they would see and hear things that showed further they did not have an ordinary son, “And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him” (Luke 2:25).
When Joseph and Mary arrived in Jerusalem and kept the Law, they discovered that someone waited for them. A man who had been waiting for the Consolation of Israel had wonderful words to speak of the baby Jesus. The man Simeon was just and devout and his desire to see the Consolation of Israel was fulfilled when the young parents came walking toward him. They heard him speak marvelous things about their baby.
Do you live for the Lord? He has things awaiting us that words cannot describe.
