Back at the Red Sea

By the time we get to Numbers 21, the children of Israel have been in the wilderness for several years. Remember they left the land of Egypt and entered the wilderness when they crossed the Red Sea. Now listen to this verse, “Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way” (Numbers 21:4).
They were back to the Red Sea! What did the people think of that? They got discouraged. They could tell that they had not made progress. They were wandering in the wilderness, which is why we call it the wilderness wanderings. However, that was not God’s fault nor Moses’ fault, but the fault of Israel.
When you complain against God’s appointed leadership, you will get discouraged, because complaining displeases God greatly and He will make you go around in circles in life for your complaining. Quit complaining and live as the Lord commands, always happy to do what He says, even if you do not like it.
