The Arrangement of Light

Even as seven lamps of fire surround the throne of God in heaven, so He wanted light arranged in a particular way in the tabernacle, “And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: ‘Speak to Aaron, and say to him, “When you arrange the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.”‘ And Aaron did so; he arranged the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, as the LORD commanded Moses” (Numbers 8:1-3).
The windowless tabernacle only had opening was that through which the priests entered. Inside the tabernacle darkness prevailed, unless Israel provided light. Priests had to see and so the Lord commanded light for the tabernacle.
The Holy Place compartment in the tabernacle represented the church and even as the tabernacle needed light, the church needs light, which comes from the word of the Lord as the church teaches and preaches what the Lord says.
Often elders, preachers, and teachers do not teach the word of the Lord and when that happens that church has begun to lose its light. May every elder, preacher, and teacher stand before their congregations and give us the word of the Lord. Do not simply read cute stories someone gave you. Give us the Scriptures!
