Purity of the Flesh

The Lord wanted Israel to be pure in all ways. Leviticus 15 gives the laws regarding bodily discharges and as you can imagine, He dealt with some very personal issues, such as this one, “If any man has an emission of semen, then he shall wash all his body in water, and be unclean until evening. And any garment and any leather on which there is semen, it shall be washed with water, and be unclean until evening. Also, when a woman lies with a man, and there is an emission of semen, they shall bathe in water, and be unclean until evening” (Leviticus 15:16-18).
The Lord created all things and so He wanted Israel to see to the proper functioning of all things. While all these laws are not repeated in the New Testament, He still wants us to do our part to have a healthy life, both in the spirit and in the flesh. We cannot require each other to follow the laws of the Hebrew Scriptures, but many of them promote good things and he who follows them does no harm.
